I am trying to locate my ancestor James Mudie in the 1891 census.
I have found one possibility in Duthil, aged 66.
I am hoping someone can provide further details for me.

The birth year is out by about 4 years but I simply cannot find any other possibilities.
He should be recorded as a widower, and is not likely to be with any other family.

A lookup of this might prove successful, or can anybody find any other candidates?

Thank you.
Chris.

Hi Chris,

I may help us  to know what your James MUDIE's occupation was and when & where he was born?

Where was he in 1881?  When & where did he die (if you already know this)?

Cheers

He was born in 1821 in Inverkeillor.
He married in Arbroath and spent many years there.
He was a canvas powerloom weaver.
In 1881 I found him in Byker, Northumberland. His wife is still in Arbroath with other family.
She died in 1890.
I know he returns to Arbroath because by 1898 he is living in the poor house because this is where he dies.

My hope is to find him in 1891 and see what he's up to.
This one in Duthil, Invernesshire may be him.

Thanks.

Hello Chris,
I think 'rosie17' may have posted information from the 1881 England Census by mistake. In 1881, James MUDIE (Married) & Francis O. Farrel are both boarders with Elizabeth Foster & her family.
Could this be James on 1891 England Census, at 31 Salisbury St, Byker, Northumberland?
James MURDIE, Boarder, Widower, age 69, Canvas Weaver, born Scotland.
Boarding with William Pesch (might be Petch or Perch) Power Loom Tenter Canvas, and his wife Mary A. Pesch, both age 63 and both born Darlington, Durham. (Ancestry)
               Regards,     Dod.

Thank you everyone for your help.
I would say that the 69 year old in Byker with William Pesch is definitely him.
I know he returned to Arbroath and died there in 1898.
Mystery solved.
Regards,
Chris.
