Can I ask a big favour please for 3 census look ups.
1841, 1851 and 1861 for David Stewart should be with wife Rebecca.
Not sure about d.o.b.'s possibly 1815.
1851 and 1861 should be living in Stirling street , Glasgow. with daughter Ann.

Thank you

Hi ,

Have you tried http://www.freecen.org.uk/ for the 1841 / 1851 Census transcriptions ?
Is this the family ? -
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FMSG-QL2

1841 - David Stewart 45 , Rebeckah Stewart 35 , Ann Stewart 1 month , living Gallowgate Street Glasgow Lanarkshire.

1851 - The same family are , I think , at 332 Gallowgate Street but the wife is down as Rachael.

Thank you for replying ev,
it's a bit complicated but to cut a long story short i had been in touch with the mitchell library in glasgow to ask about poor relief records for Ann Stewart b c1840 living in Stirling Street with parents Alexander and Agnes nee Mitchell, they very kindly did a look up on the P.R and found her but with parents David and Rebecca nee Clarke, she applied in 1854 making her aged about 15.
I have her on the 1851 with surname Mitchell , her mothers maiden name and again in 1861 with surname Stewart.
Addresses are 2, stirling street and 4, Stirling street, she is with her grandmother Ann Mitchell and sister Margaret .
All very confusing, perhaps i will get in touch with the Mitchell again.
I have been looking for her for ages now and no death or marriage on Scotlandspeople that I can see.

thank you again

Going by the 1851 Census transcriptions Ann Stewart and Ann Mitchell would appear to be 2 different persons.

Found her on the 1851 at 2, Stirling street on freecen.
As you say ev looks like 2 different Ann's.
Just got confused when the Mitchell said she had applied for poor relief whilst living in Stirling Street in 1854.

Stirling Street was a bit south of Stirling Road.

Stirling Street ran westwards from High Street and on a modern map would be roughly south of the eastern end of modern Ingram Street where it meets the High Street parallel to Ingram Street and Bell Street.

Just been checking some old maps and there was a second Stirling Street which was in the Port Dundas area .... (did these people have no imagination regarding street names  ::) )
