Burial Query - John Hughes - Aylesbury
« on: Saturday 16 May 15 05:44 BST (UK) »
A John Hughes, 63 yrs, Boatman ex Tipton, Staffs, died 4 Feb. 1855 at Walton, Aylesbury. I believe he could be the father of Elizabeth Hughes (Whitehouse) and his Death place may have been next door to Isaac Whitehouse at 141 Walton Street, a relative.

I presume he may have been buried at St. Mary's  Church in Aylesbury as a granddaughter, Sarah Jane Hughes was buried there in 1858 before the family emigrated to New Zealand.

Am I able to access Burial Records for St. Mary's Churchyard  to see if indeed this is where John Hughes was buried? I called into the Church some years ago and although an official confirmed that Sarah Jane Hughes was buried there, there was no data available at that time re the burial site. At that time I did not know about a John Hughes being in Aylesbury as he does not seem to be on the 1855 Census there.

Always hopeful!  Faith.

The burial records should be available at the Centre for Buckinghamshire Studies, Aylesbury ( the County Archives)

Thank you AntonyMMM, I have sent an email to the Buckingham Studies Centre as I could not see anything about St. Mary's Burials in their lists and hope something develops from there.

Always grateful for ideas - Faith

If you check their list of parish records they hold,  they have St Mary's, Aylesbury burials from 1565 to 1963.

Grateful thanks, bucksboy. Yes that would be him and pleased to see Walton Street named.

It is great to have that evidence of my second great grandfather confirmed.
