Uphall Cemetery Maps
« on: Sunday 17 May 15 22:49 BST (UK) »
Can anyone assist please?

My great great grandfather Alexander Miller (died 1901) is buried in the Uphall Cemetery Section B, Lair 74.  Is there a map available showing the location of this Lair?

Because the Uphall Cemetery never opened until 1893 I am told his wife Margaret Miller (died 1881) would likely be interred in the St Nicholas Church Cemetery.

Any maps or other information that would assist me to locate these two burials would be much appreciated.

Thank you

You will find the info you seek on St Nicolas Cemetery here including a Map with numbers you can download as a pdf.

And info on the other Cemetery there too. Web Site members will help you if asked.

James.

Thank you for your interest.

Unfortunately my family are not recorded on this St Nicholas website.  If they were buried in common ground without a headstone they might not appear?  Margaret's Death Cert records she died at Broxburn however I am yet to confirm her burial anywhere.  St Nicholas was suggested by the West Lothian Council.

These are the headstones in St. Nicholas Cemetery in West Lothian.  I'm not sure if it's in the grounds of the Catholic Church, or possibly another church in the area.  Have looked through quickly, but can't see one matching your relative

I found the same as well that Margaret Miller is not recorded.  Her Death Cert records that she was living at Broxburn at time of death in 1881 so I am now looking further afield.

Many thanks for your time, much appreciated.

Also, if she was Catholic, here's the link for the Catholic Church in Broxburn, should you wish to contact them to see if they hold any records that far back -

Alex,
My great grandparents are also buried in Uphall and I go there every few months tae pay my respects, I have a map of the cemetary so I will find it easily enough for you, I also have the CD of the burials, my email address is maggied52@gmail.com, if you send me an email, I will take a photo of the headstone or area if no headstone (alas my ancestor has no stone but I am going tae rectify that) I am a Scot but lived in Oz fer 55 years and my husband is a Kiwi so I understand the problem of being so far away.
I notice that his name is spellt as Millar on the CD
Regards
