Canada trip to France/UK next spring - 2016
« on: Monday 18 May 15 04:32 BST (UK) »
Hello everyone,

I am in the process of organizing a trip from Canada (most likely Toronto departure) to France/UK next spring (2016) with a battle fields/ cemeteries tour company to visit battle and grave sites of my ancestors who fought in WW1. During that trip I am planning on doing some ancestry tracing in England as well. I am at the start of organizing my trip with them.

I am thinking it would be nice to organize a group of roots chatters to join in doing a trip to France and UK then though this tour company I am using to organize mine. The person I am working with is a retired Canadian Armed Forces person. If you are interested in doing a rootschatter group trip to visit the battle fields or more next April/May please let me know. We can move forward from there. The cost of the trip to you will be determined by the number of people traveling.

Looking forward to hearing from interested chatters,

JDC

Hello Ava,

How are you doing? Mary in Barrie here. We did more or less that trip in July/August 2012. Flew Pearson - Glasgow and spent 1 week in Argyll, Scotland (where we're from, of course) and flew Prestwick - Le Bourget and spent 1 week in the north of France staying in the farmhouse owned by our tour guide. He created a custom tour for us. We followed the footsteps of my great uncle, James M. FLETCHER, killed in November 1916 in the Somme and is buried at Ancre. If it interests you, this is the fellow who took us on our WW1 tour. http://www.williamsommetours.co.uk/
