Hi - could someone please do a check up for me for the 1901 census in Garston.Lancashire ...
Winifred E Rose  born 1894 in Bootle
on IGI it looks like her and her sister have Rose as a first name as well
Rose W E Rose b 1894 Botle is how I read it
I want to confirm who are the parents of Winifred E Rose and also her siblings
I am presuming Willam as the father and A E Rose as the mother ?

It looks as though the enumerator made a mistake and added ditto after the daughters names when he should not have done so. Therefore, my interpretation is:

Wm Rose    38 Kingstone, Kent (Occupation is Lay Helper in what looks like "Mersy Mission")
Rose A E    42  Hoo St Werbrugh, Kent
Rose W E     6   Bootle, Lancashire
Rose M    9 months  Garston, Lancashire

If you go back to 1891 then the future mother is Alice Emily Rose aged 29 born Hoo St Werberg (Werburgh) Kent.  Her and William are lodging in Whitby Cheshire.

maybe William and Alice Emily are not the parents of Winifred E Rose ?

Thanks very much Kgarrad -1888 - I only put 1890 - 1895 ...silly custard ...
I wonder if they had any other children 1888-1895 ??...7 years is a long time for the firstborn ??
I will look on IGI for any births in Kent 1888-1894

M Rose b 1900 is Mabel Victoria Rose christened here in St Michaels church 11th September 1900 - born 10th June
this looks like a possible sibling
William Walter Rose born 20th Oct 1891 and baptised 6th Dec 1891 in Ellesmere Port (across the river Mersey from Garston ) parents William Rose and Alice Emily ....if he is a sibling I presume he died as he is not here in Garston in 1901 census..he would be 9 then

William Walter Rose was buried in Ellesmere Port 13 days after his baptism on 19th dec 1891
