annclare as soon as I saw this I knew it was the missing piece! wow huge breakthrough! thank you thank you :)

My dad and other researchers have always had the following information but not definitive proof:

William (Wm?) Francis born c 1795 died 12 Oct 1861 married to Mary Russell (birth and death unknown) Mary was sister of famous Dominican Priest, B T Russell.

Their Children: William Pierce Power born c 1823, arrived Australia 1852, died 23 Oct 1877
Barbara Power born c 1826, married 5 Aug 1852, died unknown
Bartholomew Hyacinth Power born c 1827 arrived Australia 1857 died 6 Aug 1869 Highly regarded Dominican Priest
Marry Ann Susan Power born c 1828 married 10 Nov 1849 died unknown
Thomas Russell Power born c 1835 arrived Australia unknown died 27 Sep 1916

We have been searching for William Francis Power, accountant... will now start looking for Wm Francis Power

Regards and many many thanks! David Power

From my resource

Marriage in Victoria, Australia
POWER Thomas Russell Born Cork
OBRIEN Kate Anne  Born Cork
1868  Reg#3964

It is a copy of the entry in the marriage register not an extract.  Only half is showing.  The other half should have the names of the bride and groom's parents including the mother's maiden names and father's occupation.  If you don't have the full certificate you can purchase online [$21] and immediately download an image of the page in the register.

Hi annclare

I have been checking all the Babtism's and have found a few more! Will put another post together soon. I checked the church record above on 5thAugust and it looks like William Pierce Power who I no longer believe is a brother to Thomas Russell. Appreciate all your help... I have been so busy following up all your earlier leads! Regards David

Hi Cando

Thanks for that. I have those records and a letter from the Church. The marriage certificate has quite a few smudges on it. Please see second half. Regards David

Hi annclare

I have looked at the above and can determine that St Peter and Pauls and St Finbahs were 2 churches where baptism took place. Is there a way to determine each baptism location, other than South Parish?

Sorry to have so many questions  ::) I can not find any birth, death, burial or marriage details for the parents or siblings... is it just me or am I missing something?

Regards David Power

Sorry for delay in replying. No there is nothing in the parish records that would indicate an address.
There are a number of early cork directories online at
 http://www.corkpastandpresent.ie/places/streetandtradedirectories/
However I searched a few for a William or William Francis Power but nothing definite showed. In 1847 Slater's directory there is a William Power publican at 29 St Patrick's Quay which would fall into the South parish but the occupation is off.
The nearest I found is a William F Power in Adelaide Street in Slater's 1857 but occupation sculptor!!
Suggest you put a link to the cork message board where there should be somebody with
more experience than I of searching in Cork.
I am also wondering why Barbara's marriage was in Dublin - usually the bride married in her home parish? Did the family move to Dublin around this time? I didn't turn up anything re the parents either.
Regards
