Marriage 1619 St Giles in the Fields
« on: Monday 18 May 15 22:03 BST (UK) »
Hello!
Is anyone working with the St Giles in the Fields parish registers?  I could do with a transcript of the 1619 marriage of Henry Fleetwood and Jane Barefoot.  The marriage date etc has come from Boyd's Index, so the year should be accurate.  The details, if any, are crucial to the next stage of my research.  I know this is a big favour to ask and you probably get a lot of requests like this, but I live a long way from London and live in hope!

Thanks for the input.  I cannot get to the LMA, hence my plea for help.

Hi Suziq2

What are you hoping to establish?

Marriage registers from this time frame contain generally no more than the date of the marriage and the full name of the groom, sometimes you only get the brides 1st name! You get more information after 1754 and Lord Harwickes Marriage Act

The registers for St Giles have now been deposited at the LMA but they are highly unlikely to appear in the London Records on Ancestry any time soon.

There was 1 chatter who did baptism look-ups but she hasn't been online here for about a year and I don't know if she had access to the marriage registers.

Hello Dawn

Thanks for the reply.  I am trying to establish whether Henry who married in 1619 was the father of the William Fleetwood who was baptised 1625 St Andrew Holborn.  Geographically the fit is good and the mother's names would be the same.  I was hoping that Henry might be described as a widower and/or a gent[leman].  He tends to be described as gent[leman] in the other parish register entries that I have collected.  On the other hand I have found a lot of 'barebones' marriage entries at this period, but I am trying to remain optimistic!

It was a long shot that someone might be looking at the St Giles itf films and would be willing to take a look for me.  I would pay a researcher, but their fees are a bit on the high side for just one lookup.

It is good news that the registers have been filmed  That is one more step along the way towards making them more widely available.

Thanks again for taking an interest.

Researchers who visit the LMA are few and far between. You might have a bit of a wait.

If anyone can help out then the film reference number is
