Just noticed that Hannah had a daughter called Annie Lochnie?
so this might be her in 1901

This Henry Leith is definately John Leith's brother
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FGD4-S2Z
there does not seem to be a record of anyone else of that name born in Ireland
he seems to have got married in Cork 1895
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FYHX-RMZ then disappears other than this strange death record with no volume numbers

We did see this.....Kate started listing her father as "John" but then also as "Jas" as well.  I am wondering though if the John in Bandon was a relative?  James was born in 1853 in Fermanagh but I can't find a family census for him.  I'll take a look at what you have sent and maybe it will lead us somewhere.  Thank you again!  By the way I am in California so its difficult to look up documents other than on Ancestry for me.  You have been a huge help!  Trish

Shouldn't be difficult to search the sites already posted- both the Irish census and Family Search are free.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I have looked all through both sites and although very interesting with wheat you all have found, I'm not sure that John Leith born in 1868 is related to my GG Grandfather James Leith born abt. 1853, although they were both born in Fermanagh, both lived in Bandon and later in Cork and BOTH were Bakers.  Unless I can find a family tree, census or other document linking them I don't think they are directly related as brothers.  Now, they could possibly be "cousins" perhaps but still unless I can find something about their parents I think I am out of luck.

And as for James' daughter Cathrine (Kate) Leith, after that last stink in prison in 1912 she just disappears off of the radar.  Maybe that 6 months in jail got her cleaned up?  Maybe she died in prison or one of the work houses?

I was able to trace her Mother Mary Anne, to Peterborough after she left the Cork Union Workhouse, she went there to live with or near her last daughter Margaret Jane who was married, Mary Anne died in 1915.

As to Kate's prison records switching from James to John or Jas as her next of kin, this may just be because she was illiterate as the address at 13 Blarney St., Cork was consistent on all records and he was listed as "father" on all as well.  Don't really know how to interpret that though.  Still think James/John died around 1910 since Kate started listing her Mother, Mary Anne as next of kin and the Mother was in the Workhouse at the time.

Very interesting searching so far and making some progress, but not much.  Trish

This is John Leith's parents marriage
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FGNC-G9J
there could be a slight possibility as this is 1864 that James Leith on this marriage was a widower when getting married and could be the father of your James Leith with a first wife.
Have you tried Scotland for a marriage since Catherine was born there.
