I wonder if the person registering his death had his birth date wrong  :-\

Eddie Williams
Birth Date   4 March 1910
Death Registration March qtr 1994
Age at Death   84
Reg district Leicester

E54C / 6001E / 176

There is no birth reg in 1910 for an Eddie Williams. It is possible that the birth was registered in the next quarter as he was born March.

The only death for Eddie Williams which fitted is in 1933 in Ffestiniog which isn't anywhere near Neath. No birth date is given so  it might not be him.

If he was deaf and dumb and never married, but lived into middle or old age, one has to consider that he may have had to go into some sort of care, or gone to live with relations, who may not have been local.

Or, if he did stay in the same area and managed himself, we have to consider that whoever registered his death may not have known that he was really just an Eddie , and may have assumed he was actually an Edward and registered his death as such. If he had been deaf and dumb, and his parents etc had predeceased him, then this may not have been known to the informant at the death.
