Thomas Berryman

I obtain a death certificate for Thomas Berryman who died on the 13 December 1898 at Hokitika and was buried in the Hokitika cemetery, what I am trying to find out when did he come to New Zealand and if there was any other family members that came along as well,

The new Zealand West Coast Times, 14 December 1898, has the obituary of Thomas Berryman, miner, late of Hokitika, native of Cornwall, age 65.

"The death is reported of Mr Thomas Berryman (Captain Tom), a well known and greatly respected miner. He was on old Cornish miner, a "captain" or mine manager ...."

Did his death certificate name his parents as Job and Wilmot Berryman? The Cornwall OPC names a man named Thomas Reynolds Berryman born in 1832.

Also a Thomas Berryman applied for a passport in 1862 in the UK
