Hi Shelly,

Everyone born in Scotland post 1855 has a registered birth. Having no birth cert. is believable due to the circumstances but it wil be there on SP as everyone had to be registered.

People didn't have the "know how" then of how to get their birth cert & the fact he had no details was a stumbling block.

I still think for £10 it's worth trying the birth I gave you ???

Monica..................what are your thoughts on this one please  ???

Hi Annie and Shelly  :)

This is such a hard search always  :-\ You have been at this all a long time, Shelly. Remember how well you have done too along the way. Sheer hard work finding all those children that you have so far.

Annie, hard one isn't it.

Just a thought, from what Shelly mentions in her post here on this current thread.

The death on an Ethel Elizabeth Magee in 1919, from Belfast. What did you mean, Shelly re the ref to the "subject" address? Is this where Rachel and David were living for example?

Pure speculation on my part now. If Ethel Elizabeth Magee did have a daughter who was then fostered etc by David and Rachel after 1919, with the death of Ethel Elizabeth Magee, could they have given her the name of 'Ethel' Edna in memory of her mother? If Ethel Elizabeth Magee was sent to Scotland to have an illegitimate baby c. 1915, the birth would be registered under the surname of Magee you would think.

Wish I was sitting at an SP terminal all alone in the night on this one, to be able to look up details further.... ;)

Don't know why, just the obvious reasons likely...

I thought Ethel Elizabeth Magee was going to be young, pregnant and in Scotland. But, her death in 1919 shows her as aged 46. So, not that type of story then.

She doesn't seem to show in Scotland in 1911. Not does there seem to be an Ethel M*G*ee showing on the 1915 valuation roll.

Shelly, have you traced the Ethel we are discussing back to Ireland? I thought this might be her at home in 1911 in Ireland www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai001486057/ If correct, her mother's name might be different to what showed on the 1919 death?

This would look to be 1901. The address matches the death cert address for Ethel's brother. www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Antrim/Windsor_Ward/Malone_Park/976715/

Hi Monica & Shelly,

My head is like spaghetti  ;D

I'm confused.com  ???  ::)

Monica, here's a quote from Shelley..... "this lady Ethel Elizabeth Magee (my great aunt?) her brother George Magee lived in a posh part of Belfast Malone Park in the 1911 census he had a servant called Ethel Hull (birth place England) could this be the lady that gave birth to my aunt ethel?? in 1915 somewhere cannot find anything about Ethel Hull".....................

Now, what I'm thinking, if this is the person who's "father" took her back to Ireland after she died then..............................was George Magee her father ???
If so, the baby probably wouldn't be registered as Magee as he wouldn't have been present ???

How old was Ethel Hull in 1911 & does it say where in England she was born???

Just me though tonight. Just tired. Children on half term, brain fried   :P

This must be George Magee in 1911 www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai001489847/ with the reference to an Ethel Hull as servant.
