I have a record online for a baptism for John 16 April 1797 in Burton on Trent to parents Joseph and Mary.  However I have found 2 couples of the same name in B on T, Mary Reynolds married 1792 and Mary Stamford-m-1785. Also in Derbyshire, Mary White-m- 1793 in Elvaston, Mary Edwards-m- 1786 in Measham and Mary Hawkridge -m- 1791 in Duffield, all marrying a Joseph Wright!  Which is my Joseph?  Guessing Mary Hawkridge as there is a baptism for a Henry Hawkridge Wright in Burton on T in 1798 but not sure.  Any idea's how I should go about finding out which is correct.  I am travelling to the UK in a few weeks and going for a couple of nights to Burton on Trent to have a look round so any idea's are very welcome.  Family history reckons the Wright line goes back to the Wright brothers John and Kit from the Gunpowder Plot----wondering if I can find a link!!

Yes he is on the 1841 and 1851 census, married to Ann, and stating from Burton on Trent.  Died 1851. Possible burial 17 August 1851 @ Holy Trinity Church, Burton on Trent.

Did any of his childrens names match those of his siblings? Helpful...if one is less common?

His children were mostly named the same as who I think are his siblings but with 3 Joseph and Mary's it is difficult to tell!  Only different one is Edwin.

You could try looking for any male Wrights with the same occupation , born Burton..and living
near in 1841/51 census.

I am a descendant of John Wright born 1797 in Burton-on-Trent  by his son Edwin.    I am interested to know who his father Joseph's father was.     I incline to the Hawkridge marriage in Duffield but can't prove it.      Have you managed to do this?       How do you fit into this family?

It's been a year, has anyone made any progress on the Wright family?

I have used Ancestry.com and found some family trees created by users, but I was not able to find anything definitive from the censuses. Any information on his sons would be very much appreciated.
