Thanks again to you all for the most helpful replies. Rena love the story on your Alexander Forrest...   no wonder we have trouble finding our families.
You can see my brain is muddled as well as I tried to close the thread in wrong Place lol.

Your initial question about the name Sandy brought this particular story back to my mind.  Cheers for that.
Family means a lot to me, as I'm sure it does to us all on here.
It's nice to be reminded that it's not all about finding out who your relatives were in the 17th / 18th century or before.
Fill in the gaps..eh?  :)

Sandy is usually a derivation of Alexander and can be Sandie for a female .In some areas of Scotland it is Sanny as in my Grandfather's case --he came from Lanarkshire.
