myluck      look what i found a slightly mistranscribed marriage for Mercer McDermott
Giving his parents as Terence and Mary from Galway so looks like you are bang on with the baptism's in Galway so a Galway man he is,fair play to you.

Samuel MacEvatt born Dublin 1817 died America 1901.He was involved in both the 1848 rising and the events of the 1860s. He was forced to sell his bussiness in 1843 and moved to London,from whence he sent arms to the Young Ireland rebels. He returned to Dublin 1854 and was arrested along with his future son in law in 1865. From a biography of J P McDonnell dictated by his widow Mary in 1908 and held in the J P McDonnell archive State Historical Society Wisconsin.
