David, please bear in mind that freeCen is very much a work in progress, so coverage can be very patchy. It's possible the entries you are now being given aren't yet on freeCen.

David, you would look in vain for this family on freeCen, as Horninglow isn't yet covered for 1891

Hi JenB,

I am certainly aware that FreeCen is a work in progress, but do appreciate the reminder! ;D

I hadn't been able to find them when searching on familysearch census either.

I wasn't aware that Horninglow isn't yet covered. I haven't recently checked the coverage! Ooops! An oversight on my part. :-[

My thanks again.

Kind regards

David

Emma S Doster 24 daughter
Joseph H Doster   29 son in law bn Woodville
John Doster   5 g son
Vauncey A Doster 4 g dtr
Emma M Doster   1 g dtr
children bn Horninglow

Hi,

Just been getting the birth index records (FreeBMD) for Joseph Henry's children. Is the above Vauncey A Doster definitely grand daughter? I ask as there is a Vanusey Albert Foster registered in the Dec qtr of 1886 in the Burton reg dist. One & the same?

Kind regards

Ancestry did have the Dosters transcribed as Foster but it does look like Doster  ::)

I think there was originally a 'D' which was then changed to 'F'.

Hi JenB,

Judging by your snippet, it looks very much to me as if the enumerator originally wrote "Do" as in Ditto, then realised their mistake & overwrote it with the surname Foster!

Kind regards

No, Vauncey is grandson.

I think that's a reasonable assumption  :D

He's Vauncy Alb[er]t in 1901.
