Job Harding (1834-1892)
« on: Wednesday 27 May 15 23:59 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I am seeking details about all the family of Job Harding (bap 1834). In 1878 he married Susan Jane Collins (b 1853 Ross, Herefordshire). They had 5 children: John J (1879), George (1881), Alfred (1884), William (1887) and Job (1889) all born Stroud.

Job Harding died in 1892 in Stroud.

I have found the family in 1881 and 1891 Census but then they seem to "disappear". What has happened to them? Hoping that someone can help find them. Thank you.

Hello keyboard86,

Thank you. That explains where three of the children were in 1901! But where were George, Job and their mother Susan? I thought that she might have remarried.

Hi I believe the 12 year old James was in fact the Job James Harding birth June qtr 1889 Stroud, so missing we have Susan, George & John Thomas Harding ( Not John J as you have described)

John Harding listed in 1901 Wales Census as Jno Harding,  Adopted son of Eleazer and Elizabeth FOWLER. Ref: RG13/5016 Folio 146. Page 31
Elizabeth is aged 54 and born Ross-on-Wye.

There is a marriage in Mar Qtr 1874 : Eleazer Fowler and Elizabeth Collins
1851 Census tells us that Elizabeth's parents are William and Charlotte
1861 Census tells us that Susan's parents are William and Charlotte

Hello shepway,

Thank you for all this welcome information, I am sorry to know that another (Paget) relation died in the First World War. This particular family suffered such a loss, from NZ, of so many young lives, wasted.

The remaining mystery now is what happened to Susan Harding?
