John Scully and Anna Colligan
« on: Thursday 28 May 15 21:53 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone, having trouble locating anything about my 3x great grandparents, John Scully and Anna Colligan. There is a profile for them on Ancestry.com, but the person who uploaded them hasn't been active on the site in over a year, so I didn't bother messaging them.

The only information about them on there was that on January 26, 1866, twins Patrick and Brigid were born in 12 Lower Summerhill Dublin, and two years later a son John was born in 1868, though no birthplace is given.

I looked up 12 Lower Summerhill and found in 1862 a Mr. William Dingham is living there according to Thom's Almanac and Official Directory, so Mr. Dingham must have moved out or died shortly after that was recorded.

If anyone has any more information I would be very grateful.

Thank you-

Nick

Oh, awesome, thanks Dathai.  :) Is there a way to glean any more information from those records like where the parents may be from, or their occupations, or anything like that? I notice the records all seem to be in Latin.

RootsIreland has (transcribed) baptism records from 1847-1860 for 7 children to a couple with these names, all County Kildare, it's a subscription-based website (records are copyright).

Re 12 Lr Summer hill
Mr William Dignam and his wife Maria Anna Higgins are probably only listed at that address because they were most likely shopkeepers and probably only occupied the ground floor/first floor there would most likely have been at least two more floors above them which would be regarded as tenements.
A search of Irish Genealogy church records using just the address 12 Lr Summerhill gives 3 or four families at that address in the 1860s  including a baptism for one of the Dignams children

and then of course your own family 1863 to 1866.
