Mountaquilla, Kilkenny location?
« on: Friday 29 May 15 17:52 BST (UK) »
Hi all
I'm looking for the location of an address in kilkenny called Mountaquilla. It was given as an address in a deed dated 1848 for an ancestor. He is then in Wicklow for the Griffins valuation. I have searched on both Google maps and OI historical maps to no avail. I have also tried to search for a meaning of the name in the hope of being able to find it but no luck. So I'm hoping for some local knowledge that someone may know where this location is.

Thanks in advance.
Charlie

With no such place wouldn't it be easier for everyone if you named a person there??
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

Hi,
I have heard of this before, though it was some years ago.....
search for Aquilla Sugg
It is something to do with land he sold in the area of Mount Juliet, Thomastown in County Kilkenny.

Thank you for the replies. The persons name is Robert D Cooke. I made a mistake with his entry in the Griffins valuation. He was in a place called The Water Gate, St Marys, Kilkenny. Serves me right for posting from memory.
Attached is a copy of the deed with the name highlighted.
