Hi

According to the link below there are two graveyards in New Luce, perhaps you could check with the Church itself as to the location of Parish Burials after 1854

The other graveyard looks to be operated by the Council so you could check with them as to when it opened, presumably records would be held by the Council

Hi. the burial grounds were adopted by Wigtownshire  Council [ now Dumfries & Galloway Council] in 1929. the records are good since 1929 but since yours is only a few years earlier it is worthy checking with them. Try the council website at www.dumgal.gov.uk

Thanks very much, when l spoke to the girl at Stranraer they said they only had them from 1930 but surely the previous years must be somewhere?

Hi Stoddie,
I have been trying for a long time to find out who is buried in a grave in a village not far from Newluce his wife was buried in 1924 there is a headstone but no mention of her husband who died a few years later.
Contacted Stranraer their records don't begin until 1940 they suggested minister contacted the church all records  are sent  to the Head Offices of Church of Scotland 121 George Street Edinburgh  phoned there -- the records are passed on to the National Archives phoned there .
Records there for other things but not for deaths in that particular village
If you would like the number to phone here it is 0131 535 1334.
Good Luck let me know how you get on.

Regards,
suzilad
