Census address
« on: Sunday 31 May 15 13:49 BST (UK) »
I grew up in the Westfield area of Midsomer Norton, Somerset and have recently discovered an address on a 1911 census which is - 60 Wells Road, (2 Westfield Villas).  Does anyone know where exactly Westfield Villas are please as I have never come across this before.  Many thanks :)

Looking at the Census Summary Book for J. Shearn, 1 & 2 Westfield Villas come before the Primitive Methodist Chapel, so will be the two houses you can see on the old map at https://www.old-maps.co.uk/#/Map/367609/154313/12/100545 you will probably have to zoom out to see the detail.
You can also see them on the map at http://maps.nls.uk/view/101460739#zoom=5&lat=1464&lon=7094&layers=BT

I've just noticed that the number of this house is 59  https://goo.gl/maps/C2xct so they are probably the original houses called Westfield Villas

:) Thanks very much for your help.  It looks just right as my ancestor's name was John Shearn,  his family originated from Farrington Gurney.  John worked at Norton Hill pit and according to the census in 1911 was also a Wesleyan preacher so he lived in just the right place!   :)

No 60 is immediately adjacent to the Methodist Church, just checked when collecting this morning's paper.

In his book "Around Clandown, Radstock and Kilmersdon"  (Ian S Bishop) he shows a picture of the two cottages alongside the chapel in 1910. (Page 64).
They have changed inasmuch as the old stone walls have now been rendered and pebbledashed but otherwise just as they were.
