I have found a Death Entry for George REES, Aged 85yrs, June 1954, Swansea Registration District, Volume 8b Page 592.
I would like to establish if this is George REES, Born 18 Welcome Street Swansea in 1869, Parents Evan and Margaret REES.
He Married Sarah Ann (DAVIES?) in Swansea in 1892. (Volume 11a Page 1381).
On the 1911 Census George Rees + Family are living at 43 High Street Clydach. They are still there in 1918, as I found this entry in 'The 'Cambrian Daily Leader', May 30th 1918:
'Mr. and Mrs. George Rees, 43 High-street, Clydach, have been officially advised that their youngest son, Lance.-corporal. Austin Rees (Cheshire Regiment), has been missing since between April 10th and 20th last. His elder brother, Private. Ivor Rees, is serving in Mesopotamia'.
In 1927, George REES of 43 High Street Clydach is the Informant on his Father's Death Cert, (Evan Rees 1837 - 1927). (I gather that 43 High Street Clydach is now a Post Office).
Before ordering the Death Cert, I wonder if some kind person could check for me if there was an Obituary for George REES in June 1954? (As it's quite a common name, I want to be sure that I have the right person).
I'm guessing that either The West Glamorgan Archives or the Swansea Library would have papers for that timescale?
Many Thanks,
Romilly.
