Finlay of Templeport Co Caven
« on: Monday 01 June 15 09:47 BST (UK) »
In St Peters Church in Templeport there is a monument on the wall to George Finlay JP of Corr Ville House . He was born 1774  ( perhaps locally ?) and died on 23 Jan 1855. That is all I know but I am trying to trace the Finlay family from this area. I did find another gravestone inscription that may be linked. Anna Finlay age 31 who died 30 may 1851 wife of Francis Finlay of Woodville House. Is Francis a son ?
Would welcome any information about the Finlay family from this area.
Many Thanks.

It's a rather vague way to search, if you could reason/name you have to search in that area perhaps we could help with a particular family.

The Reverend George Alexander King Finlay (b 1858?)
http://www.bawnboy.com/stpeters-church/memorialspage/Rev-G-Finlay-Memorial.htm

(Strange his plaque is under George Finlay MP Corville died 1855)
It does say like his marriage record that he is the son of George Findlay but maybe a grandson???

George Alexander King Finlay had a widow Isabell C. Finlay his probate styles him as of Bawnboy but his tombstone as Corville. His will 1916:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1942-23426-7116-17?cc=1921305

Down the bottom of the page there is also a will for Elizabeth Margaret Finlay widow, who may be related as her money goes to Isabell C.Finlay widow in 1916. Elizabeth died in 1879.

She was Isabel Cundell Dare (daughter of Arthur Newman Dare) according to her marriage 1898 in Duseldof Germany.

In 1901 (The Reverend) George Alexander King Finlay was living in All Hallows Barking, London. Aged 43 born 1858. With Isabel Cardell (Cundell) b 1871 in Surrey Mortlake?
