With a PC that is 11 and a laptop nearly 5 years old I know how you feel candleflame.

Perhaps you could use your laptop plugged in until Windows 10 has had time to settle down and some of the probable bugs sorted?

Yes I'm using it plugged in but if you want to move to the printer in another room to print say a word document, then you either have to shut it down or just close it and then when it restarts, it says it closed unexpectedly etc.! Just frustrating not the end of the world.

Why do you have to shut down, or even close the laptop if you're just moving it to another room?  Just leave the lid up and carry it wherever you need to.  Take the lead and plug in again in another room too.  Then carry on using it plugged in, until you are ready to buy a new one.  Can you not link your laptop to the printer even though it's in another room.  My husband used to have his study upstairs, along with the printer, but I could still send things to print even though my laptop was downstairs.

Or is there a graduated time spread throughout the day. ???

If there is no battery the computer will go off as soon as it is unplugged won't it and so won't close down properly?  The answer is a very long lead!  ;D

Well, I'm off to a great start with Windows 10.

I've just looked at my recent update history and it says " Upgrade to Windows 10 Home - Failed" !!!!

P.S. that's on my laptop, nothing showing on main PC yet ( I'm almost afraid to look ).
