Mary Still
« on: Tuesday 02 June 15 07:44 BST (UK) »
My great grandmother is Mary Still, she married Thomas Brown in Boyndie, Banff. She was born in Aberdeen on January 25 1882. I am searching for any information related to her. I thought her maiden name was Still, however my father informed me that she may have been married before. They moved to Canada sometime before 1916, but some of their (or perhaps hers) children were born in Scotland. The only thing I am certain of is that my great grandfather Thomas was born on February 23, 1884 at 32 primrose St. Leith, Edinburg. And that I still have family in Scotland. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and Welcome to RootsChat  :)

You can look up the marriage of Mary Still and Thomas Brown on the Scotlands People site - http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk  You need to register and buy credits as it is not a subscription site.   It  does list a marriage in 1909 of a William Thomas Brown and Mary Still in  Boyndie,Banff and would list both their parents names

Kay99 - the marriage is indeed 1909 but for Thomas Brown (not William) and Mary Still.

Marriage date 2/7/1909 -Mary Still was a spinster, daughter of William Still and Joan nee Fetch (her parents married 1879 Banff) and her mothers birth appears to have been Johanna Fetch b.29/8/1849 (on familysearch) dau. of William Fetch and Jean Watt.

If this pans out to be the correct line, I have quite a bit of info/descendancy on another daughter born to William Fetch and Jane/Jean Watt who married one of my relatives.

There is a tree on Ancestry with lots of information on Mary's parent's plus photo's it appears her parent's and some family members all went to Canada ..
You will probably be able to find Mary on the 1911 census in Scotland
