John Bussey, 1796 Lewes

Received this email from france - anyone out there who can help?

Hi, I'm trying to find the John Bussey, b 1796 Lewes, the eldest son of Richard Bussey and Ann Bish. What I'm hoping for is baptismal records for John Bussey, 1796, Lewes
 and other family members
So any help or advice you can give me will be much appreciated as I live in France.
 Could I also trouble you for a wee bit more, I'm new to searching parish registers, a lot of my Bussey Family originated in Sussex parishes Newhaven, Lewes, Glynde, West Firle, Alfriston, and presumably they all had different parish records.

I should advise them to join SFHG as there are numerous Bussey entries on their online database.  Can't see John c1796 though!
A John and Grace Bussey are having kids around that time.   Elizabeth in Hamsey in 1791.
Richard and Annis have George in 1798 at St John sub Castro.  They married at All Saints in Nov 1795 and Richard is shown as of Rottingdean.

This looks to be the the family in 1841 - reference HO107  467  16  9

The John Bussey, born Lewes, admitted 8 Nov 1850 is still a patient on the 1851 Census - reference HO107  1565  524  12 -

John Bussey, Curable Patient, married, age 53, Shoe maker, born Lewes, Sussex

His wife Ann and the family in 1851 are at HO107  1630  209  27

They are in Kent in the census records.   He dies in 1873.

Thank you all for your help, John moved to Kent along with an exodus? of Bussey names from Sussex and is shown on the census returns in Kent. We have quite good records of John and his wife and family living in St, Lawrence Thanet. What we don't have is a Baptism certificate, which we have for his brothers and sisters.
 What I'm hoping for is baptismal records for John Bussey, 1796, Lewes  b 1796 Lewes, the eldest son of Richard Bussey and Ann Bish.

I appreciate how big an ask this is, but if anyone can point me in the direction of where the records are held,  I can take it from there. Bob

Hi and welcome
All Lewes parish records, and the other parishes you mention, will be at the East Sussex Archives Office at The Keep, near Brighton.    Not practical for you to visit!   However the Sussex Family History Group have many of them online for members and I can't find a baptism in their records.  It might be worth your joining them as it is possible the name has been mistranscribed.   There are over 300 Bussey entries.
George seems to be the only one in that time frame.   Where were the other children baptised?

I'm amazed and thankful for everyone's help. After John 1796,  George was the next born Lewes 1798, All the others were Newhaven, William 1880, James 1803 my Ancestor, Ann 1805 and Richard 1807.

Parents Richard Bussey and Ann Bish m.1795 Lewes All Saints.

Ann Bish died Newhaven 1812, And Richard Bussey married again in 1813 to  Sussanah Mockford in Newhaven.

Rootschat member Petmas has a lot of information about Newhaven so it may be helpful to contact him to see if the original registers add more about the family.  Sometimes they do.
I will send him a personal message to alert him to this post.   Odd coincidence but I was in Newhaven yesterday.
