This rings a bell with me, because some rime ago I was looking for information about Jean Leighton Ritchie, who may have been born Jane Leighton Henderson in Dundee in 1886. There is a long thread about her but I am temporarily reduced to using a tablet and I have yet to discover how to copy a link to it.

The similarity of name and place surely cannot be a coincidence!
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Census information Crown copyright , All Census information from transcriptions - check original records , Familysearch/IGI is a finding tool only - check original records

On the face of it I don't see any link between this Alexander Henderson and the mysterious Jean Leighton Ritchie, but the possibility of a concidence of names still bothers me.

Hi EV, finally got the certificate for the marriage of Robert Robertson & Jane Ritchie Henderson, unfortunately, not my Jane. So, the search continues.  She is actually a Janet ritchie Henderson & her parents are totally different. Thanks anyway.

There is a will for her mother Jane Henderson 28/3/1923 on SP might be worth looking at to see if there is any mention of her ...A tree on Ancestry has her Jane Ritchie Henderson born 27 April 1898
Death Rhodesia Eastern Cape with a ? mark ..

Thanks Rosie, I have a photo of Jane Ritchie Henderson taken on Xmas 1923 in Dundee, so she was alive at the time of her mother’s death. The death at a Cape a town is interesting. I don’t have access to Ancestry so can’t follow it up. Can you tell me whose tree it was that has this information.
