Johan Edward Ollquist, a finlander in Melbourne?

Hello,
I have this person Johan Edward Ollquist, a Seaman born in Vaasa, Ostrobothnia, Finland 27dec1865.

In Australia, Melbourne I have found a person with the same name. This "aussie" Ollquist served in Australian troops i WWI and he died 20sep1945 (77yrs). He was married about 1890 to a woman named Gillard Ellen and the couple had five Children (John Edward (~1891-  ), Ivy Isobel (Mrs Smith) (~1893-~1980), Hilma (mrs Saarinen), Dorothy Rhoda Mildred (~1902-~1927) and Eric Victor Herman (1909-1989).

As it seems there must be living decendants in Australia.

My question to all you people in this forum is if someone could verify that in fact this Johan Edward Ollquist in Australia is the same person as "my" Johan Edward, born 27dec1865.

Hi,

The WW1 papers refer to Edward Ollquist born about October 1883 in Melbourne and he was part of the volunteer Australian Naval and Military Expedition Force (not the AIF) the went to German New Guinea to destroy the wireless stations.  His next of kin when he enlisted in December 1914 was his mother and this changed in 1917 to his wife Dorothy.

A sad news story about J.E. Loquist's house burning down in 1939 mentions the name of his granddaughter.   No-one was hurt but he lost his house.
