OHRETIA MILLS Married Richard Henry Richards 1911, St Day
« on: Thursday 04 June 15 17:29 BST (UK) »
A marriage took place between Richard Henry Richards and Ohretia Mills 29 May 1911 at St Day Church . I found this information on a British Army Service Record on FindMyPast. It gives their address as Chariot Road Illogan. Ohretia is spelt as Orita as next of Kin but unfortunately no parents are mentioned.
Richard's (born 1890) last known address on the record was Illogan Highway and he was discharged as being medically unfit due to fracture of femur.Richard was a miner, underground.
I have a Richard H Richards born 1889 in my family tree and he is a son of William John Richards. The family lived at illogan Highway and I wonder if he is that person.
Has anyone come across Ohretia Mills in their searches? I can't find her anywhere neither can I find a death for her.

Cornwall OPC has a Hettey Octavia Mills bap. St Day on 7 Aug 1899, together with two siblings.  They're the children of Josiah, a tin miner, and his wife Emily.

Could Octavia be Ohretia, perhaps?

Always looking for GOODWINS in Berkshire :)

I had just found that bap and that thought crossed my mind as well until I saw the marriage. ::)
I can't find her in the 1901 census either. Maybe she was born out of county.

I was the same - but that family also have a daughter transcribed as Harkater born abt 1896 in
 1901 2238 /48/12

I think she is the one registered as Horatia.i would say she is a likely candidate although very young at marriage.
I can't see her in 1911 indexes though.

you could contact the OPC to check the marriage. OPCs have records that aren't online because they are past the cut-off date.

One of those sites has her name as Oretia, so I looked for deaths in that name in Cornwall.

This is not her, but the lady may be related:
Rosemary Oretia Wasley born 9th July, 1922, died May quarter 2006 in Truro.

And that could possibly go with this birth (the only Rosemary O in Cornwall that year)

Births September quarter 1922  Rosemary O Mills/Mills in Redruth

Added: Marriage of Mills to Lawrence, then to Wasley.

I also wondered if any gypsy links, as they manage to avoid many censuses.

Added:
Rosemary Orita Wasley on probate.
