Is it possible his son may have written the poems?

On balance, I don't think so. His son served in the Lancashire Regiment in WW1, and I feel he would not have signed the poetry "Alfred Gunn, Rutherglen" - but I did wonder myself...

I've just picked up this post from a Google search whilst on holiday with my mum.  Her great grandfather was Alfred Whitehead Gunn from Rutherglen and she knew he had written poetry that had been published in newspapers.  We can confirm both marriages and that our relationship is from a child of the first marriage thus half sibling of Margaret, known as Peggy.  My grandfather was also Alfred Whitehead Gunn as was his father before him.

We would be happy to help further, if anyone is still looking for information on the family.
