Mabel Nellie Blake
« on: Saturday 06 June 15 11:13 BST (UK) »
Hi, Mabel served with the Scottish Women's Hospitals in ww1 as a Doctor in Serbia.  I found yesterday that she was living in Eldon st Greenock in 1915 and had a mother called Helen. Would now like to know where she was born etc.

Many thanks Alan

Hi Alan ,

Looking at the 1911 Census index there is a Mabel N Blake age 17(perhaps too young ?) at Greenock ,
with a Helen Blake age 48.

Hello Alan,

If this is the lady you are looking for she was born Mabel Nellie Blake, in Greenock, Renfrewshire 1893.

It looks very much that her parents were Arthur Blake, married to Helen Paton, 1886. Greenock, Renfrewshire.

Her mother affectionally know as Nellie, ie Helen, was born Helen Grant Paton, 11/November/1861. High Church, Paisley. to parents Alan Paton, and Henrietta Angus Turner.

If this is indeed your Mabel Nellie Blake, there is plenty of information on her ancestors around.

Regards,
Jonn.
