Henry (O') Neill
« on: Saturday 06 June 15 18:08 BST (UK) »
for reference my line
Maurice O'Neill and Elizabeth Burke possibly married 1830s Carlow GG grandparents
their son
Matthew O'Neill born Dunleckney 1839 married Honorah Green 1867 Castletownbere G Grandparents
Their son
Denis O'Neill born Dublin 1884 married Mary Kate Kent in Dublin 1911 Grandparents
My grandmother Mary Kate O'Neill died in 1949 and is buried in Glasnevin along with Denis and other children.
When Denis died circa 1968 we found a burial receipt for a Mrs Mary O'Neill in Mount Jerome also dated 1949 which my grandfather paid £4 for i could'nt understand this as i knew my grandmother was buried St Paul's Glasnevin so off to the office in Mount Jerome.
they gave me a readout for the grave and there was about 5 O'Neill's buried there but none was the husband or father so i had'nt a clue who they were and with no father i could'nt do a trace.
I eventually noticed that the main informant was Christina Powell as sister to some of those in the grave so i looked for a Christina O'Neill getting married to a Powell which i found in 1919 a soldier.
I got this marriage cert and fathers name was James O'Neill a Lbr.
So as usual looking for a marriage for James O'Neill to a Mary was like stepping into a mine field there was so many,i then spent a small fortune looking for the births of his children going by their ages on the headstone which to my misfortune were out by 10 to 15 years and caused no end of problems trying to trace them on the census.
I eventually found them in 36 Mercer St in 1901

1911 31 Up Mercer St

young Henry seems to be in Glencree Ind School age 18.
James died age 47? 1912 and is buried in a common grave Glasnevin with occupier of S D U as informant.

marriage in SS Michael and John 7th Sep 1888
James Neill a Lbr 8 Georges Avenue son of Henry a Lbr to
Mary Reid 10 Georges Ave dtr of James  Reid a porter (and Margaret Tyrrell,i have traced living descendants of the Reid/Powell family and they know nothing on the O'Neills )

so i am wondering who Henry Neill and his son James are in relation to my O'Neill's there were no Henry's in my side of family.
Must be some relationship if my grandfather should bury James's wife.

any hints tips or clues greatly appreciated this one's been parked off for over 15 years now hoping for some new records to be released.
Dathai.
