Trish,   you posted the 1841 census for Wm Tagg and w. Caroline.  Your last 2 listings for people in their home were James and Sarah Read and you put TAGG in perenthesis at the end of their names.   I am confused.  Were they children of Wm and Caroline ? If not, then what was the children's connection to this couple ?

Thanks,  Bettye

No relationships are shown in 1841
The census entry reads -   do indicates 'ditto'  - Tagg / do is not shown after Sarah or James
William     Tagg  45
Caroline     do    35
Rebecca     do    15
Pleasance   do    15
Caroline     do    12
Sarah Read         4
James                 8 months

Sarah Read Taggs baptism

James W Tagg bn c1840 is shown as 'son' of Caroline on later census

Just to avoid possible confusion, that's Caroline the Elder. :)

I only mention it as I made the wrong assumption myself.  :-[

Perhaps Caroline's maiden name was Read.  If so why don't the older children have a middle name.
Guess this will remain a mystery unless I can find more info on the two Read children.

Much appreciation for the response,   Betttye

Perhaps Caroline's maiden name was Read.

Remembering that Caroline's birthplace in 1851 was given as "Norfolk, St Johns", this looks to be her marriage to William TAGG https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N6B5-YXH
