Floral Avenue, Hull.
« on: Thursday 11 June 15 17:50 BST (UK) »
There are/were 2 in Hull (one off Rensburg Street HU9, one off Seymour Street HU3)? This one is from the 1891 census in the Holy Trinity district, do you know which one that would have been? Thanks.

Could you give us the family in the 1891 census, so we can look at surrounding roads?

Thanks

Doh, I never thought to do that, I'd be a rubbish detective.

The next census st is Melrose avenue, but Melrose st is a way off, maybe it's a different one. Wenlock street is the st before, but I can't see a Floral Av there now, it seems to have disappeared off the map, it's all horrible new housing now. Londesborough Street is near too, suggesting it is the Wenlock one.

It's Joseph Jesney at 6 Floral Av if you want to look yourself.

Joseph Jesney in 1891 is on page 14.

If you go to page 1, the enumerator outlines the area that he is covering in the district:
'Londesborough Street (both sides) from West Parade to the entrance to the Cricket Fields.
Argyle Street from the centre of the Railway Bridge to Derringham Street (both sides) Kimberley Street, Wyndham Street andWenlock Street with all the terraces.'

Check it for yourself, and I hope this helps.

Thanks, I'll try and remember to go back to page 1. And thanks for the useful map link!
