This is another shot in the dark type exercise. Obviously, quite a few people tended to move to London's East End in groups of family/friends/neighbours. I've been fortunate enough, working with people whose families also, like one of mine, made the trip from Chard in Somerset, to be able to build  up of a bit of a larger picture of their lives in London (for example, a lot of people from the same area would pass through the same few lodging houses )

I'm now trying to see if I can do the same with another of my families who moved across from Gt Yarmouth, so I'd love to hear from anyone whose families fit the bill. I've also got the remnants of a letter written to one of my Gt Yarmouth lot in the East End in the 1880s. Unfortunately, the name of the writer hasn't survived & there are no real clues, but the writer is obviously very familiar with both the East End & Gt Yarmouth....who knows, if anyone has been lucky enough to have anything similar, we may be able to match up ?

Well, here a a couple of "potted" search in ancestry on the well-indexed 1881 census

They're for "born in XXX, around 1850, living in London 1881", for Great Yarmouth and Gorleston.

The numbers are 376, 508 in Gorleston's favour.
