Alexander Gibson. Corroneary
« on: Saturday 13 June 15 14:04 BST (UK) »
According to his son the Rev James Gibson, his father, Alexander Gibson was born on the 12th of August in 1712. He died in 1801. The family lived at Coronary. He was a farmer. Alexander had at least one son James Gibson.
I can find no mention of him anywhere, and was wondering if anyone had come across any information about him?
I would be most grateful for any help given.

Depends on what religion, you keep mentioning him but never say what religion he was!!
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

As his son James was a Presbyterian minister the most likely religion for the family is Presbyterian but you are looking for information for a period when actual records, both church and civil, are scarce.

It may be that there is no headstone for the family (either never one erected, was a stone but now fallen, damaged, illegible or removed). Presbyterian Churches usually don't keep burial records but there's an equal chance the family could be buried in the local Parish (Church of Ireland) churchyard.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
