Help: Geoge WILSON PoW in WW1

George WILSON  (regiment unknown) born 1898 Crich to George and Eliza Wilson – in a newspaper report of 7 December 1918 stated he was a Prisoner of War in Germany. Would love to know where and his regiment for my WW1 project about people of Crich Parish who served in WW1

The report in the Derbyshire Courier of 7 December 1918 describes him as Rifleman George Wilson, and he had been a POW for 8 months.

" .......Miss Elsie Wilson, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs George Wilson, of the Factory. The bride was given away by her brother, Rifleman George Wilson, recently returned Germany."

Was he born in 1898, or his birth registered then and he could have been born at the end of 1897?

He was 3 in April 1901 and 13 in April 1911 (http://www.crichparish.co.uk/WW1roll/WW1records/wilsongeorgeA.html) , so 75% likely to have been born in 1897 rather than 1898.

There was a George Wilson C/6895 Kings Royal Rifle Corps who was a POW. The Red Cross index card is dated 24.3.18 so that fits with the 8 months mentioned in the press reports.

Yes this is definitely him! DoB 5-2-98, Derby, address The Hat Factory, Fritchley. Captured at Bapaume
