Lazonby Family
« on: Sunday 14 June 15 12:24 BST (UK) »
Hi All

Is anyone else researching this family - the main period I'm interested in is 1700-1800?
Anne Lazonby (Lainsonby Lazenby or similar) married my 5xGtGrandfather William Lindsley in 1796. The family came from Bishop Auckland.

Thanks
Judith

Hello All,

I noticed this post with the surname Lazonby and Middleton Tyas and thought perhaps there could be a common connection.

This is my first post here and I hope someone can help with these 2 “brick wall” ancestors:

George Graham b. 1766 of Parish of Middleton Tyas married Elizabeth Lazonby on 12 May 1791 Auckland Saint Andrew Durham, England

(with an alternate marriage date of May 01, 1789 given by another researcher)

Elizabeth Lazenby, was said to have been born November 11, 1768.

They may have had one or two of their children in England before arriving in America, in dates reported as either 1793 or 1802. The family lived in Allegany Co. New York where they had the rest of their 8 children.
In 1815, they emigrated to Clark Co. Ohio, near Springfield. Part of this journey was made on a raft down the Ohio river to Cincinnati. Beyond that, I have no information or pedigree for either person.

Any new clues would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time!

It seems the name may originate from Lazenby, near Redcar, Yorkshire.

James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.
