Where is Rhodleys?
« on: Sunday 14 June 15 18:51 BST (UK) »
When John Cooper Wells was taken into the King's Bench prison in 1776 he was described as a gentleman, formerly of Rhodleys, Lidney, Glos; late of Dublin, Ireland.

Is this related to Rodley Manor in Lydney?

John appears to have married three women in London (Jane Keeble on 16 Mar 1763 with a child in 1767; Martha Gunn on 20 Mar 1763 (!); and an Anna Maria sometime before a child in 1768). Unless there are two John Cooper Wells, this is difficult to explain, but the Gloucester connection is also a mystery. I have quite a lot on other Wells families moving to London at about this time, but not John's.

The link above takes you to a newsletter from the forest of dean history society.  Interesting information under the title "lost houses" about Rodley Manor or Rodleys.  This may be a start for you.
