Person from Province of Quebec.
« on: Monday 15 June 15 02:14 BST (UK) »
Hi !
I created this topic to help people with their family (first settlers) in Quebec as I found 2 huge books from Drouin about genealogy in my grandfather's library.  :)
Some surnames aren't there but if I can help and give people the story of their ancestor, I will be happy !

Have a nice day,
Vfrye

Hi KNormoyle,

(I was going to write you in French, lol)
This is about French Canadian Family from 1608 to 1760. Some surname are not there but I can find a lot of them. Also, there is another book with genealogy lines from 1608-1760.

Cool.  Let me know if you see anything on the Pion dit Lafontaine family. Immigrated to Quebec sometime between 1608 and 1634.  Nicolas Pion dit lafontaine married Jeanne Amiot who I believe was a fille du roi.

If you wrote it in French I could read it.  I knew I couldn't speak it anymore when last time I visited, I would ask a question in French and get a response in English.

Nicolas Pion dit Lafontaine, son of Nicolas Pion (son of Nicolas and Renée Lemaître) and Catherine Bredon.
B : May 17, 1634 at Tours St-Pierre du Boile, France.
Baptism : May 17, 1634 (http://www.migrations.fr/images/actebaptemenicolaspion17051634.png)
His godfather was Thibaud Bonault (middle-class merchant) and Françoise Scarruan.
D: March 3, 1703 at Verchères, Québec, Canada.
Burial : March 3, 1703 at Québec.
He was committed to Pierre Gaigneur, "Le cat de Hollande" captain, and travelled with him to work in Québec during 3 years. He received an advance of 75 pounds.
At the end of his contract, he was recruit as soldier for the Carignan Regiment army for the Sorel company during 5 years. He was done in 1673.
He signed a marriage contract on Thursday September 14, 1673 before a notary called Romain Becquet. (http://www.migrations.fr/images/MARIAGE_FILLESDUROY/AmyotJeanne_PionQc1673.jpg)
He received a land (at Saurel lordship) by Pierre Sorel on Sept 8, 1673, ratified before a notary called Antoine Adhémar on Sept 26, 1676.
He was hospitalised at Hôtel Dieu de Québec on Sept 23, 1696 but retired to Séminaire de Québec on October 14, 1699. He selled his land to François Jarret (father of Madeleine de Verchères).

Jeanne Amyot (daughter of Noël and Anne Vivien)
B: about February 4, 1651 at St-Pierre de Losne, France
D: February 6, 1745 at Verchères.
She was a Fille du Roy and came in Québec in 1673 with proparty of 200 pounds.
She was a midwife.

I did not find those information in my book (they weren't there) but Fille du Roy were really important here. It is also the 365 anniversary of Fille du Roy and Soldier of Carignan. Their stories are easy to find.

(P.S : I hate when French people answer in English if someone ask in French... You were trying and that is great!)

Whoa, how fantastic!

If the image has been removed by the time you get here, Keith, PM me and I can help. It's available in the Drouin Collection. And yes, all the Filles du Roi people can be found online!

Cheers,

Thanks for all that.  At one point I did have access to the drouin collection but haven't been as active lately.  I think my road block that I hit with proving that my 4 x ggm was the same Josette Finlay that is the daughter of Jacco Finlay has really discouraged me.  I put in a solid year of work and hit a complete wall.  Josette married into the Pions so I thought maybe there would be some kind of clue.  I've hit road blocks now my Dad's paternal and maternal side and my mom's maternal side.

Thanks for looking.  I knew the names but I didn't have the marriage certificate.
