look up request, Richard DAVIES at Pontesbury Shropshire

Hi,

could anyone have a look at the war memorial in pontesbury.pontesford (I take it there is one) to see which regiment Richard davies, who was born in 1880 at the engine house.  Richard died during the first world war and we are trying to find out where he fell and lies.

Was Richard married, where was he living in 1911

sorry for delay no Richard never got married.  I have spoken to older members of the family, one who was his nephew who seemed to think Richard was in the raf.  although another one seemed to think he was in the army.

The R.A.F had not yet been formed, those men flying and servicing  planes  were strictly speaking in the army but it was called THE ROYAL  FLYING   CORPS.   Viktoria.

yes that would explain a lot as some members of the family seem to think he was in the army whilst others who did have a photo of him in uniform say he was in the raf.
