Hi
Yes they would look to be twins, have you  looked to see if perhaps Kate Alice died at birth or shortly after?

I'm not sure but looking at Lancs BMDs - was George's mother a SIMPSON and Kate Alice's a WARBURTON?

I have had the same situation but they turned out to be cousins, not twins.

On LancsBMD they are the same Reference number so that means registered on the same page, but not necessarily siblings.

Again, the GRO reference indicates the same area - eg: 8c, and the page number, not an individual entry.  Pure co-incidence, or family?  Who knows.

Maureen

I would agree with you Maureen, they have different mothers on LancsBMD

My grandfather shared a reference number with another of the same uncommon surname but like Sillgen's example they turned out to be cousins.
