I would say that the entrance porch would be a later addition. Cross on top and some patterning on it which may help ID it.

On the wall of the church under roof line, between the buttresses and the conifer, is a round looking thing. What is that?

Looking again, I don't think that can (all) be conifer. It looks like something structural either beside or behind the tree .... I can see some parallel lines below the top of the 'tree' ...  :-\

I think the thing on the left is a normal headstone with a small one up against - we have some like that.

On the right, I thought the weird dark shape could be a creeper/bush which had grown up over a headstone making it that kind of shape.

Both shapes are near the camera so look out of proportion compared to the church.
