Dorset: Edward TULLIDGE, born c1839
« on: Thursday 18 June 15 16:33 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I am trying to compile a thumbnail biography for Edward TULLIDGE, born 1839, Dorset.   The only details I have so far obtained are:

(1):    He was released from Dartmoor Prison on 31/10/1859, having originally been sentenced to
7 years transportation for housebreaking on 15/07/1853 at Dorchester Assizes (the
          sentence was commuted);

(2):    Findmypast, which I cannot access fully, shows that possibly in 1871 he was
          living in Charminster, Dorset.

Any help would be more than appreciated.

For the moment,

Tony

In 1861 the father Edward lists his birthplace as Wyke Dorset so this may be the family in 1851.   The image looks more like Tullege.  Living at High St Weymouth

Edward Tulbye    52  b Wyke Shoemaker
Elizabeth Tulbye 40 Weymouth  Nurse
Edward Tulbye 12 Weymouth
John Tulbye 9 Weymouth

Thanks kay99,

A quick and welcome response, indeed:  do you have a citation by the way for the 1871 reference.

Stupidly I ignored the "TULLEDGE" 1841 Census which led me to a Public Member Tree which again only cited the 1841 details.......hence RootsChat ::)

Hello kay99,

He appears on the 1901 Census at the Asylum too.

I think I may now write to Dorset County Records Office, who have information for the Asylum, and ask whether or not they can offer me details, diagnosis, date of death etc.

Thank you for your help and direction.....I think I can now mark the thread "TOPIC COMPLETED" successfully.

Thank you

Now I know the likely DOD possibly writing to the Records Office may produce some interesting backcloth for Edward TULLIDGE 8)
