Frederick Lisbert JEWELL
« on: Thursday 18 June 15 17:06 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am interested in Emily Sarah Jewell, who was born in 1834 to John Jewell and Caroline Allen in Siddington, Cirencester, Gloucestershire. In June 1854, she married Joseph Bellenger, with whom she had several children.

I have, however, recently had my attention drawn to a baptism record for one Frederick Lisbert or Frederick Lisbut JEWELL, who was born in c1852. He was baptised in Siddington on 9 May 1852. There is no father given. His mother is given as Emily Sarah Jewell, who is described as a single woman.

I have not been able to find a birth certificate or any record of him after 1861. In 1861 he seems to be living with his Grand-parents, John and Caroline Jewell at Cricklade Road, Cirencester, Gloucestershire. At least there is an entry for him as Frederick Jewell aged 10, which is approximately correct. He is described in this entry as a "nephew".

Any help in tracking him down would be gratefully received.

No, but I will!

The Jewells and the Bellengers continue to throw up headaches.

Some simply disappear. Not easy, especially given their tendency to change names.

Pheno - these both look possible, especially the military connection. If I get hold of the marriage certificate, it will be interesting to see what it gives as his occupation.

However, I think that the marriage that you have found might be for the wrong Frederick Jewell. There was a Frederick Allen Jewell born in 1857 to Emily Sarah's brother William Allen Jewell and his wife, Elizabeth.

Hi Greaves,
Frederick JEWELL married Louisa KENT at St Peter, Duntisbourne Abbots in 1877. I shall be in Glos Archives tomorrow morning. Would you like me to do a transcription of the marriage?

Hi Victor

Yes that would be useful. It would settle whether he is Frederick Lisbut or Frederick Allen.

Many thanks
