Ann Montgomery
« on: Friday 19 June 15 22:42 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I am working on my family tree which consists of the McCulloch's of Ireland and Scotland.  I am wondering if anyone has any information on Ann Montgomery. She was born abt 1788 in Ireland and died Mar 3, 1877 in Crosshill. Her parents are Major Montgomery and Margaret Haggerty. Ann was married to Felix McCulloch who was also born in Ireland about 1790. I have very little info on Ann Montgomery and her parents. Did she have any siblings? Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks

Loreena

Hi Loreena and welcome to Rootschat
could this be a brother of Ann ?....it looks too late to be the son of Major / Margaret Haggerty  - so could the father at this marriage - Major Montgomery be the brother of Ann ?
do you know where in Ireland the family were from - could it be Derry ?
looking at it again - both bride and groom are widowed - so William COULD be Anns brother ? I suppose they could be in their 50's??

ADDED
yes - I think Major Montgomery is Anns brother - born 6 years before Ann in Londonderry 1782 - this is notification of him getting his pension

Hi

Thanks for the reply back.. I have a certificate for Ann Montgomery showing that her parents are Major Montgomery and Margaret Haggerty.  On another piece of info I have the father Major Montgomery born abt 1750 in Tamlaght, Londonderry, Ireland.  That is all I have. Very little info on the Montgomery family.  So I am thinking Major Montgomery is Ann's father and William could be her sibling.....?  Thanks for the information you posted!

Hi, just to give you an idea of where they were at the time.

1831 county Derry census:

Major Montgomery
barony: Tirkeeran
parish: Cumber Upper
townland:Killycor

Felix McCullagh
barony: Loughinsholin
parish: Tamlacht O'Crilley
townland: Drumard

*funny thing is Felix is listed as having 1 male and 2 females in his house at this time. All 3 are listed as Roman Catholic.
If you can find out what the Major's 1st name is PRONI may have a will for him which could give more information and they may have other info as well. Hope this is helpful,Kim

Just going to post that, kingskerswell  ;)

Felix McCullagh
barony: Loughinsholin
parish: Tamlacht O'Crilley
townland: Drumard

*funny thing is Felix is listed as having 1 male and 2 females in his house at this time. All 3 are listed as Roman Catholic.

What exactly is 'funny' about this? Seems like a perfectly normal entry.

What would concern me more is the distance between Drumard and Killycor.

Added- this Major Montgomery might be one to keep in mind-
