Help Needed Irish Ancestor McGuinness
« on: Sunday 21 June 15 12:01 BST (UK) »
Thomas McGuinness = Margaret Bollands (born 1818) married in Northallerton 1844

I am trying to trace Thomas's McGuinness family in Ireland and I have hit a brick wall.

Family rumour indicated he could have originated from County Armagh.

Little known facts
Thomas McGinas born circa 1810 (McGinas was the spelling on his marriage cert)
Occupation: Hawker
Father: Edward Maginnis (Basket maker deceased on 1844 marriage certificate)
Possibly travelled from Ireland with his brother Bernard who settled in Liverpool

The family (Thomas' descendants) in latter years were fruiters in Richmond in Yorkshire and were purported to be the first family to import banana's to Yorkshire!

Please contact me if you are researching Thomas or can guide me where to look next.

Thank you.

Thank you.  The family feel that he was from County Armagh so I keen to find that link.
