Don't know where you might find out more, could try the ww1 forum on this site.

I was going to suggest that it might be an unofficial badge for something like the Sixth or Sixteenth Service Battalion but that doesn't help in terms of being able to identify a regiment.

Asking in the WW1 forum is likely to be your best bet.
