armstrong - paterson

hello ,this is my first post.

I am trying to find information regarding my grandmother on my maternal side.
my grandfather was William Armstrong ( coldstream guards and ex policeman ) b:1893 newcastleton D: Carlisle 1982.
on my mothers birth cert my grandmother is Margaret Isabella Paterson, but I am unable to find any information about her parents etc.

Have you checked Scotland's People for their marriage??  http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/
You need to register and pay credits to view any certificate.  Using their free search I only found one marriage   in 1912  of a William Douglas Armstrong to Margaret Patterson in the District of Makerstoun in Roxbroughshire

The marriage certificate should list both parents of the bride and groom

Edit - A guess at her baptism in 1891 in Castleton, Roxburghshire, but their marriage cert should confirm her parents

I think this could be the Margaret who was baptised in 1891 on the 1901 census living at Nether Raw, Castleton, Roxburghshire

Wm Patterson 55 b Kilmarnock, Ayrshire
Elizabeth Patterson 40  b England
Janet Patterson    14 b Castleton
Maggie Patterson 9 b Castleton

I have found a possible birth abt 1891 and marriage abt 1919.
there seems to be a discrepancy in the surname spelling !
the birth cert spells Paterson with one t ..

will order certs to confirm.
