The Simmons family Gt Yarmouth
« on: Monday 22 June 15 17:42 BST (UK) »
Please help me find any information on a man named James Thomas Simmons. He lived at some point in Gt Yarmouth, Norfolk. He could possibly of been born there but I'm not sure about this. I know only of one child of his who was named Louisa Gertrude Simmons, she was born around 1890 in Gt Yarmouth, Norfolk and she married a man named George Charles Underwood. I don't know James Thomas Simmons birthday or the name of his wife so any information that anybody could dig up for me would be greatly appreciated. I do know that at some point he worked as a labourer as it's stated on George and Louisa's marriage certificate that I purchased recently.

I really hope that somebody can help me.

Thank you,

Scott.

What are the names of the marriage witnesses? Any clues there?

A possibility in the army discharge records: Thomas Simmons born Great Yarmouth circa 1840, served with 56th Regiment from 1859, discharged at Warley in 1880.

Thanks Rosie. What a waste of my time transcribing information that has already been provided.

Hello Shaun,

Thank you for this information, it wasn't a waste of your time as I value every thing that I get :)

If you're still interested, the witnesses on the marriage certificate are given as John James Simmons and Kate Lovick. I don't know if this means anything?

Thank you again,

Scott

John James Simmons

I think that would be her brother born Great Warley, Essex ( or Enniskillen per one census) circa 1878. There are several public trees on Ancestry which include this family, at least one of which has a photo of John James Simmons.

You had been given that information before. You should have linked to the previous research, or at least mentioned it. If you had then I wouldn't have gone through all the searches again myself and I wouldn't have duplicated the transcription. I might have spent that time doing something more useful. Please think on next time.
